How Arthrosamid® Works
See how Arthrosamid® works within the knee joint to help reduce osteoarthritis pain and support improved movement.
How Is Arthrosamid® Administered?
Before the injection, the area around your knee is numbed with local anaesthetic. Antibiotics are also given beforehand to help reduce the risk of infection. At Physivity, ultrasound guidance is used to help confirm accurate placement of the injection within the knee joint.
Is Arthrosamid® Right for Me?
Arthrosamid® may be considered for people with knee osteoarthritis who are looking for a non-surgical option to help manage their symptoms. Suitability is assessed following a consultation and review of your medical history, certain medical conditions, infections, previous knee procedures, medications and planned dental or surgical treatment may affect whether Arthrosamid® is appropriate for you. The clinician will discuss the potential benefits, risks and alternatives before treatment.
Speak to Our TeamWhen Might I Notice a Difference?
Everyone responds differently. Some people may notice an improvement relatively quickly, while for others the benefits develop gradually. Clinical information indicates that maximum benefit can take around four to twelve weeks.

What to Expect After Treatment
Most patients tolerate the injection well. Here's what's normal in the days that follow.
Right After Treatment
- Leave the clinic straight away, or rest first if you prefer
- Some people experience mild discomfort as the local anaesthetic wears off
- The joint may feel slightly different due to Arthrosamid®'s thicker consistency
In the Days That Follow
- Continue your regular medication, including pain relief, as normal
- Temporary pain or swelling can occur following treatment
Getting Back to Everyday Activity
You may be able to leave the clinic shortly after your injection. As with other invasive joint procedures, strenuous activities such as jogging, tennis and long walks should generally be avoided during the first few weeks. The clinician can advise you on gradually returning to activity and whether structured rehabilitation may be helpful.
